We’re excited to share two distinct expressions from Rogers Ford Farm Winery this April and May.
The Jacob Christopher Chardonnay showcases a bright, fruit-driven style, crafted to highlight freshness while gaining subtle roundness through malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. It’s a vibrant, expressive white that speaks to balance and drinkability.
In contrast, the 2024 Petit Verdot delivers depth and intensity, with bold dark fruit, structured tannins, and added complexity from bourbon barrel aging. It’s a rich, full-bodied red that captures the strength and character of the varietal.
Together, these wines offer a dynamic pairing. Fresh and lively alongside bold and powerful giving you a complete look at the range and creativity of Rogers Ford Farm Winery.
Jacob Christopher Chardonnay 2022:
Bright and lively in the glass, this Chardonnay is crafted to preserve the purity of its fruit while undergoing malolactic conversion in stainless steel, lending a subtle roundness without oak influence. Aromatically, it opens with fresh notes of green apple, ripe pear, and a touch of citrus zest, supported by delicate floral undertones.
On the palate, the wine is assertive and well-structured, with vibrant acidity balanced by a smooth, lightly creamy texture from malolactic fermentation. Flavors of crisp orchard fruit carry through with precision. You might pick up a little caramel or baked apple note—but that comes from the winemaking, not oak, with malolactic fermentation giving it that round, slightly creamy edge. The finish is clean, refreshing, and lifted.
Petit Verdot 2024:
Deep ruby in the glass with a hint of garnet, this Petit Verdot reflects both its intensity and time spent in bourbon barrels. Aromatically, it opens with layers of dark cherry, blackberry, and blackcurrant, accented by subtle herbal notes and deeper tones of smoked licorice and leather.
On the palate, the wine is bold and structured, with concentrated dark fruit flavors supported by firm tannins and bright acidity. Notes of vanilla and black pepper from the bourbon barrel aging weave through the profile, adding warmth and complexity while enhancing the wine’s powerful character.
The finish is long, rich, and lingering, with a warming impression that speaks to its 15% ABV. While expressive and enjoyable now, this wine has the structure to continue evolving, revealing even greater depth over time.
